Russell Blanchette, CAFOD volunteer in Corpus Christi, Wolverhampton was presented with the prestigious Bene Merenti medal by Bishop David McGough for his long and exceptional service to the parish.  The award was presented at the end of the annual Wolverhampton Deanery Lent fast Day Mass, which Russell had organised.  The evening was a great success with music provided by St Edmund’s Catholic School, Our Lady and St Chad’s Catholic Sports College, Corpus Christi, Primary School and  Holy Trinity Primary School.  Julia Hood of the CAFOD office gave an inspiring talk about her recent visit to Ethiopia and the exciting news that CAFOD has been awarded UK Aid Match funding which means that the Government will match pound-for-pound every donation to our Lent Appeal.
