On the 20th May Roger Payne undertook the epic challenge of cycling from London to Paris, all in aid of raising money for CAFOD. Roger’s cycle was part of a group trip of about 30 riders and began in bustling London, before moving through to the picturesque Kent countryside, and then onto a ferry at Dover. From there the challenge continued through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France before Roger found himself victorious underneath the Eiffel Tower. Roger had powered through very long days in the saddle and very strenuous hills through his determination to fundraise and the encouragement he found from ‘other enthusiastic riders to find hidden reserves of energy’ to reach their Parisian target. However, not content with this feat, Roger, after a short break, then got back on his bike and completed the journey back home in an even quicker time.
Roger has expressed his gratitude for all the support he has received so far, especially the encouragement and donations that have come from the parishioners of Our Lady of Angels R.C., and his hopes that support will continue so he can reach his fundraising target.
