Great Birmingham Run

CAFOD Birmingham would like to say a massive thank you to Gareth, Marie, Maria, Steve, Gaspard, Clement, Jack, Vicky, Neil, Frank and Matt: Team CAFOD at the Great Birmingham Run 2012!

Marie with her team of star supporters, getting ready to run

On a morning so foggy to begin with that we wondered whether we’d be able to see any of the run, Julia and Amy from CAFOD Birmingham and Hannah, our Events Fundraising Coordinator, arrived early at the CAFOD marquee armed with tea, coffee, Geobars, sweets and homemade cakes to help keep the team going.

Hannah and Julia ready to support Team CAFOD!

We were lucky enough to be joined by amazing volunteers Sue and Georgina from St. Thomas More youth group in Sheldon, Birmingham, to cheer our runners on and spread the word about CAFOD in the process with stickers and Hungry for Change campaign cards.

Chief cheerleaders Sue and Georgina!

It was brilliant to be able to meet so many of our runners to wish them well before they started.

Frank prepares to run with a smile!

We even managed to spot some of them during the race, for a big CAFOD cheer!

A big cheer for Clement, spotted halfway round!

Frank, not too tired to give us a wave!

It was fantastic to have the opportunity to congratulate many of our runners when they finished. Marie, Maria, Steve and Gaspard all finished the run in less than two hours, which is a brilliant achievement.

Steve told us: ‘Remembering the suffering of Christ kept me going!’

Congratulations Maria!

Huge congratulations also go the the Run for Rio Team, a dedicated team of priests, youth leaders and young people who ran to help fifty young people from the Archdiocese attend World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro and spend time working with poor communities in Petropolis, Brazil.

Congratulations Team Run for Rio!

Once again, a big thank you to all our runners and supporters. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Roll on next year!

Supporting CAFOD… whatever the weather!
