Shirley parishioners help to make IF happen

Parishioners at Our Lady of the Wayside, Shirley, have shown their support for a fairer food system by creating a Big IF for display in their church.

They used the loaf and fish templates from CAFOD’s Hungry for Change action cards to write messages and prayers for those around the world who do not have enough food to eat, then arranged them to make a beautiful banner to support the Enough Food for Everyone IF Campaign.

Maggy Jennings from the parish will also be travelling with CAFOD to London on Saturday 8th June to take part in the Big IF G8 Rally and help make sure world leaders are left in no doubt about the need for a food system that works for the world’s poorest people.

CAFOD is asking communities, parishes, schools and groups to show their support for the Hungry for Change and Enough Food for Everyone IF Campaigns by creating their own Big IF from paper loaves and fishes. Supporters are encouraged to bring them to London for the Big IF G8 Rally to show just how many people from across England and Wales believe we must act to end world hunger. The Big IF G8 Rally promises to be the event of the year. Featuring an ecumenical service led by Archbishop Vincent Nichols, a Walk of Witness, family-friendly events in Hyde Park and a host of celebrity speakers and performers, it’s a unique opportunity to demand action on global hunger… and it’s not to late to join us!
