The Syria Crisis

Each week the Oxford University Chaplaincy CAFOD group provides a home-made soup lunch to raise funds for CAFOD.  To mark the last lunch of the academic year, we had a fantastic guest speaker.  The group was joined by Peter Howard of Food for the Hungry.  Pete is the Director of the Emergency Response Unit, and came to talk to us about his recent time in Syria. Having spent most of his time around the border, Pete spoke of the challenges that many refugee families are facing, and some of the inspiring ways he had witnessed church communities in Lebanon working to help Syrian refugees.  Image

Fighting in Syria has caused a humanitarian crisis on a staggering scale, and it’s getting worse every day. Over 90,000 people have been killed and more than five million children, women and men driven from their homes. To see a bit more about CAFOD’s work with Syria, take a look at our Syria Crisis Appeal.
