Oxford N cup of tea meeting 17 November 2015

Oxford North Deanery Cup Of Tea Meeting.

CAFOD Parish Volunteers across the Oxford North Deanery met up over a Cup of Tea on 17 November at St Thomas More Church Hall in Kidlington.

The meeting opened with a reflection, followed by a chance for volunteers to share the great work that their parishes have been doing for CAFOD in the past year and especially for Fast Days 2015.  One example was Joyce from St Joseph, Carterton who said she stands at the door and doesn’t let anyone get out without a fast day envelope so that hopefully they Gift Aid their donations. She added, “Some people said to me that they didn’t speak English and I replied, ‘well neither do lots of the people we are collecting for!’ ”

Volunteers were given top tips for fundraising and on how to  involve the whole parish in CAFOD’s work. Copies of the Laudato Si’ Study Guide to help Parishes reflect and respond to the Pope’s encyclical were given out.

Getting into the festive mood, information was shared on our interactive Advent Calendar  and  Advent Service, and Christmas gift ideas from World Gifts and from CAFOD Shop.

Thanks again to all the volunteers who attended and for your continuing support. It was great to meet you and we had a great time!
