Due to CAFOD’s restructuring, the Deaneries of Oxford North and South now have a dedicated co-ordinator – Deborah Purfield.
Deborah is the co-ordinator for the Northampton Diocese and is based there (in Princes Risborough). However, she is now also giving some time to support the Deaneries of Oxford North and South in the Birmingham Diocese.
During her visit to meet Bishop William, she said, “I am keen that parishes don’t see CAFOD in terms of fundraising ONLY but as part of the life of the community. I see my role as building relationships with priests and parishioners and together seeing how we can promote CAFOD’s work in parishes by pray and action as well.”
Bishop William was very supportive and welcoming. He has also offered to share his vast experiences with CAFOD’s programmes in Africa at a CAFOD event in Oxford in the future. He added, “I am delighted that the Deaneries of Oxford North and South will now have a dedicated person to support parishes and schools. I give Deborah my full support”
Deborah will be visiting parishes over the coming months.
