In the period between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday, lots of Lent Lunches have happened in parishes all over the Dioceses. Just before Easter, a Soup Sunday that was held at St Theresa’s, Perry Barr in Birmingham.

The event was arranged by two amazing volunteers in the parish and was attended by Patricia Madziba who is a new volunteer for CAFOD. Patricia spoke to us about her experience of the Soup Lunch:

“This event was arranged by two dedicated Ladies; Mrs Barbara McPhillips and Mrs Sian Mulligan. The Ladies have been doing this for several years and this year they have raised £261.93. I would like to thank the ladies and other parish members who supported the event.”

Furthermore, due to the Government’s match funding, the funds will be doubled meaning that St. Teresa’s will have raised over £500 for the Lent Appeal. This year, the Lent appeal is going to provide clean and safe water to people in Uganda, Zimbabwe, The Dominican Republic of Congo.

You can still donate to the Lent Appeal and it qualify for match funding until May 9.
