Kris Pears- supporting and inspiring others

We’re very grateful for our lovely team of volunteers across our Archdiocese. As the face of CAFOD, we’d really like to support, empower and resource these volunteers to ensure that they have an enjoyable and fruitful volunteering experience. We’d like to thank Kris for all his commitment, energy and enthusiasm making this possible.kp-blog-2Kris is a Volunteer Coordinator for the Coventry deanery and helps ensure that parish and campaigns volunteers are well equipped, briefed and supported in his local area. Within his own parish, St Thomas More in Coventry, Kris has engaged his fellow parishioners in a wide breadth of CAFOD’s work including World Gifts, our work with refugees and our One Climate One World campaign.  We’re delighted that Kris has taken this energy and passion to engage and inspire other local volunteers.

Kris keeps in regular contact with these volunteers to support them in their day-to-day volunteering and in the run up to Fast Days. Kris also helps promote CAFOD initiatives such as our Lampedusa Cross pilgrimage which reflects on the refugee crisis. The  Lampedusa Cross travelled amongst parishes and schools in the Coventry deanery and even made its way to Walsingham and northern Spain as part of a Camino!kp-blog-5

Kris has spoken about our work in many parishes, encouraging prospective volunteers to join the team, and through his local Justice and Peace Group and Catenian Circle, Kris has inspired many to get involved. Through local events such as our ‘Stories from Peru’ evening, Kris has helped facilitate opportunities for these volunteers to come together.
